| Leintwardine,
at the northernmost tip of Herefordshire and on the edge of the South
Shropshire
hills, is a lovely village set in the most stunning
countryside. Its name is
derived from two sources:
Leint which is the old
name for the River Clun - which has its confluence with The Teme just
outside the village - and wardine,
an old word used to mean a cattle
enclosure. As well as the very fine Grade 1 medieval church of
St Mary Magdalene and two of the tombs, the bridge over The River Teme
is also a grade 1 monument. There are shops, bars and pubs in the
village. |
