is 9 miles south-west of Hay-on-Wye. In the village is one of the
last surviving 'whipping trees' - a yew - through the holes
in which miscreant's arms were put through and secured by an iron
bar. They were then either whipped or left overnight. The church of St
Ellyw's dates from 1260. Ffostyll Long Cairns are two neolithic burial chambers just to the north of Ffostyll Farm |

Fedw Cottage and Farmhouse where the owners live, dates back to the
1700s. Much of the character has been retained with the oak beams,
sloping floors and steep old stone stairs but the cottage is warm and
comfortable and situated in a superb remote location just off the
Rhos..... |
