Malvern is 6 miles north-east of Ledbury. The Malvern Hills offer spectacular views across Herefordshire and Worcestershire, and beyond. The entire length of the Hills is open to the public and is criss-crossed with about 160km (100 miles) of bridleways and footpaths. Malvern originated as a spa village and the therapeutic qualities attributed to its springs coupled with the Georgian fashion for taking the waters transformed it into a Water Cure town. Some of the original Malvern water wells are open to the public. Malvern is also closely associated with the composer Sir Edward Elgar and there is a dedicated Elgar Trail around some ofloveliest parts of Malvern. The town hasa wide range of shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, a theatre, museums and a priory.
